FAQ

Where is the event located?

The event is at the Horizon Air PDX ops facility at 8070 NE Airtrans Way. (On the south side of PDX, just west of the Oregon Air National Guard base. It is NOT located at the passenger terminal.)

The event opens at 9 AM and ends at 3:00 PM. Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring all the various careers at PDX. There is a lot to see.

No, we welcome all youth groups to attend. Expect to see high schools, ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, STEM groups, and other clubs and groups from all over the northwest. Please remember to pre-register. You can NOT attend without registering.

You can register your unique group through this website. This will also put you on our mailing list for the save-the-date notice for future events. All youth groups will need at least 3 youths for every adult (chaperone). Name your group and sign up your participants. If you have any other questions, please send us an inquiry.

Scouting America and Girl Scouts will need at least two chaperones per troop. All other youth groups will be allowed a minimum of a 3:1 ratio of youths to adults. Please do not add more adults than what is required. We realize this event is just as fun for adults as youths, but it takes a lot of employee volunteers in a limited amount of space. This event is for youths, so please do not take spots as adults that youths in our communities could have taken.

No, this event is free of charge. If you must cancel after you have registered, please cancel your registration so others can have the opportunity to attend. This will also allow us to get an accurate participation count for the event.

All events, exhibits, classes, and professional interactions are available to all who attend.

  • The vast majority of things are unlimited and will have plenty of space for all to experience.

  • Some events, exhibits, and classes will be limited due to space, but available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the day. That list will be available at the start of the event.

To edit your registration, click the "View Registration" link in your confirmation email. Once you return to your confirmation page, click "Modify Registration." This will take you back to the "Add group members" page, where you can view, modify or cancel any individual in your group, as well as add new members, space permitting.

Please note: If you are modifying your registration, you will need to click submit at the end before your information is saved.

A light lunch and beverages will be provided for all registered participants. If you have special food requirements, please plan to bring your own lunch that meets those requirements, as no special orders will be available.

A food truck (taco truck) will be on-site and will have food available for purchase. Water bottle filling stations are located throughout the buildings.

Registration will close one (1) week before the event, or when our maximum capacity has been reached.

Groups already registered must finalize their attendee list two (2) weeks before the event. We understand that many groups register with the group leader and then add youth names later; just be sure to add the names before the 2-week mark.

If you need to pick up your child, you must contact your child’s group leader or chaperone. The event is at the Horizon Air PDX OPS facility at 8070 NE Airtrans Way, on the south side of PDX—not the passenger terminal. It is located just west of the Oregon Air National Guard facility.

Yes, you can drop off your child at the check-in facility, but they must be chaperoned by another adult and be part of a group.

Please remember that all youths must be chaperoned and part of an organized group at the event.

This event is not open to the public, so only adult chaperones registered with a group can attend.

Yes, all youths must be chaperoned by members of their group. Alaska Airlines Aviation Day is not providing chaperones.

The Aviation Day program is designed to engage youths in hands-on activities and spark their interest in an aviation career at a young age. From experience, we have determined that participants must be at least 11.

Participants must be between 11 and 18 years old for the Portland event.

Yes, Alaska, Horizon, Hawaiian, McGee and Boeing employees, their families, and friends can attend after 1:00 p.m. Bring your company badge to check in and wear it at the event.
